Evaluation Timeline At A Glance
September -Unit members shall meet with their evaluators before the tenth (10th) working day of the school year for purposes of reviewing objectives for evaluation. Group meetings are acceptable.
September 30 -A conference between the evaluator and each member and each unit member shall be held before September 30. If an evaluator has more than twelve (12) evaluates in one year, the time may be extended an additional two weeks.
December 15 - Two observations must be completed for probationary certificated employees. One observation must be completed for permanent certificated employees.
February 1 - The evaluator and unit member shall meet to develop a mutually agreed upon written plan for anticipated unsatisfactory evaluation.
February 15 - Summative evaluation completion date for second year probationary certificated employees. The evaluation report shall be filed five (5) working days after the completion date. A conference will be held between the evaluator and the unit member at least three (3) working days prior to filing of the evaluation report.
April 1 - Summative evaluation completion date for permanent certificated employees. The evaluation report shall be filed five (5) working days after the completion date.
May 1 - Summative evaluation completion date for first year probationary and all temporary unit members.
Please review Article 6 in the LASD/LATA Collective Bargaining Agreement for other rules regarding certificated evaluations.
Final evaluations for certificated unit members on a one semester contract shall be completed no later than 30 days before the end of the semester.
A teacher’s experience determines how many standards need to be identified as a professional goal:
6: New and untenured teaches without a Clear CA Credential
4: Experienced teachers who possess a CA Credential and are new to LASD (1-5 years)
3: Teachers with 6-10 years in the District
2: Teachers with 11 or more years shall select two (2) goals corresponding with the school’s Single Plan of Student Achievement
*Five Year Cycle Evaluation (form in the Appendix of the Contract)
The above named certificated employee qualifies for the five year evaluation because
1. He/she is a No Child Left Behind Highly Qualified Teacher
2.He/she has had ten consecutive years in Los Altos School District
3.He/she has not been referred to the PAR Program within the last two years
4.He/she had a previous evaluation rating that met or exceeded State and District standards

Mar. 1 Leave of Intent to Return notice to District office due or considered a resignation
Mar 15 requests for transfers submitted by this date
Mar 15 Layoff notices/ probationary teacher dismissal
Mar 15 Request for part time retirement.
Mar. 15 Requests for resignations of part time employment and return to full time
Mar. 25 Negotiations agreed upon next year’s calendar
Apr. 15 Receive written specific assignment
